Bikepacking | E.T.G Tours Checks Out A New Route on the UK Waterways |

Cycling tours along the UK's waterways provide an amazing experience for those looking for a different approach to see the country's stunning scenery. By fusing the peace from the water with the liberation of cycling, these trips offer a novel viewpoint on the natural and cultural legacy of our canal history.

The E.T.G Tours team are researching new and exciting canal routes across the United Kingdom. Each route will offer its own unique charm, from historic landmarks and charming villages to stunning natural scenery.

In a few weeks, they will research a fascinating circuit route that starts and ends at the Braunston Marina. The cycle journey will follow the Oxford Canal all of the way through tranquil rural countryside to Cropredy, Banbury and to the historic city of Oxford. From there the route takes you on the 57 cycle route to Thame. Here, you'll join the beautiful Phoenix Trail to Princes Risborough in Buckinghamshire, and then to Aylesbury, where the route connects with the mighty Grand Union Canal. A lovely cycle ride up through the longest canal in the UK, passing Milton Keynes and Northampton, and full circle back to the Braunston Marina.

Accommodation will include cosy canal side pubs and glamping, so you can fully immerse themselves in the outdoor experience.

Why do a cycle tour along the waterways?

One of the highlights of cycling tours along the UK waterways is the opportunity to explore places along the route. Cyclists can stop off at historic landmarks such as medieval castles, stately homes, and ancient ruins, gaining insight into the UK's rich cultural heritage.

The abundance of wildlife and natural beauty along the waterways is another reason, from birdwatching to dragonfly spotting and, of course, the beautiful floral that hugs the canals is truly spectacular.

Cycling along the UK waterways is a safe and enjoyable experience, and all precautions are counted for from appropriate safety gear, including helmets, reflective clothing and lights.

With careful planning and consideration of logistics, E.T.G Cycling tours will be a memorable journey through picturesque landscapes, historic landmarks, and charming villages. So saddle up, pedal away, and discover the hidden treasures of the UK's waterways on two wheels.
