TWIN BROTHERS TAKE THEIR OPEN AIR EXHIBITION THROUGH THE STREETS OF INDIA
Framing Life. The Raven Brothers from the United Kingdom launch their open-air exhibition on the bustling streets of India.
The NO RUSH photography exhibition is the combined work of twin brothers from the UK. 50 prints taken over 20 years crossed India at the beginning of the year (2024), displaying the vibrant tapestry of life as seen through the eyes of two talented photographers.
"This one-of-a-kind exhibition aims to transform the world's public spaces into a gallery wall," Chris Raven told reporters on Monday.
Simon Raven, fraternal twin brother and fellow photographer, stated. "We believe that the exhibition 'No Rush' is unique in its depiction of life slowed down in a fast-paced world. Each of the 50 portraits contain a sense of calm, and we believe that when displayed together, these frozen moments have real power."
Chris Raven added. "Si's concept of using locations in India as the backdrop for the exhibition sounded colourful and fun. The one frame idea was born out of a necessity to keep the gallery light to carry. It needed to be a portable exhibition, that we could transport, together or alone. We chose a chunky frame, that the people we hoped to meet along the way could easily hold. We wanted to showcase our work in the real world, and then re-post the results of that physical labour on The Raven Brothers' Instagram, X (Twitter), and Facebook pages."
"I arrived in Kolkata with only one mission," Simon Raven explained. 'Print a high-quality exhibition and take it to the streets. It has been hugely rewarding to see our work in print, and an incredible experience to interact with local people while photographing the exhibition on the move."
"You realise that many people, regardless of their profession or economic circumstances, have a strong appreciation for art. During our tour of India we met a construction worker, a university professor, a car mechanic, and a family out for a walk. Art inspires conversation and brings people together who may not otherwise meet."
In the coming year, The Raven Brothers will continue their quest to exhibit 'No Rush' across the world, with London and Morocco next on the list.
